Tara Schneider, M.Ed., RYT-200, RCYT

Founder, Bodymind Teaching

Tara Schneider is an educator, curriculum leader, and contemplative practitioner whose work lives at the intersection of intentional, clearly guided instruction and deep respect for each learner’s inner wisdom and wholeness.

With over 18 years of experience in K–12 education, Tara has rooted her leadership in individualized academic support and literacy instruction, with expertise in executive functioning, attention, and inclusive learning strategies. She is known for weaving together research-based methods with mindfulness, movement, and reflective practices that support inner awareness—creating classrooms that are not only effective, but also inclusive and transformative.

Tara’s educational philosophy is deeply informed by her long-standing practice of yoga, meditation, and subtle energy work—including specialized training in restorative and yin yoga, children’s yoga, and mindfulness in education. Her approach is also deeply informed by the contemplative silence of the Quaker tradition, which has shaped her understanding of active listening as a form of witnessing. These practices guide both her work with children and her mentoring of educators.

Through Bodymind Teaching, Tara offers a vision of education that nourishes the full self—body, mind, and spirit. She invites educators to show up with presence, creativity, and compassion, and to create learning environments that are focused, spacious, and soul-aligned. Her work is rooted in the belief that learning is not just a cognitive process, but a way of honoring the divine light and inner wisdom within each individual.

In addition to her work with young people, Tara teaches yoga and meditation to adults—offering small group restorative and yin classes as well as one-on-one sessions that support mental rest, emotional release, and somatic integration.

Beyond her professional life, Tara finds balance through her personal passions. A mother of two, she lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where Chassidic tradition and hipster culture stand side by side. Raised in Anchorage, she often daydreams about the scenic foothills and intricate mudflat patterns of her Alaskan hometown. An avid reader and aspiring author, she also enjoys creating recipe booklets for loved ones. Tara unwinds by gardening and watching quiet sunsets on her patio, though some nights a great heist film or Cold War thriller provides the ultimate “mindful” escape!
